Nursery Progress

My mom decorated this lamp shade. The lace trim behind the bow was sewn by my grandmother Clara. It was originally used on some old pillows and my mom found it and added it to the lamp! She is quite genious!
Some little dollies in her crib!

Won't this look nice with CURTAINS?! I know it's a mess but you can get an idea of the chair and the lamp.

Here you can see the bedding! Such a pretty blue!

We are taking "baby steps" when it comes to the nursery! The good news is that the bed is almost finished and we got a new lamp and a chandelier. The curtains are on back order and the dresser is still in shambles but hopefully it won't be much longer.

Wright Family Shower

This bassinet is one that was used by Russell, Randy and Angie. Horace and Shirley fixed it up and made it like new for Clara Beth!

Randy's Mom's side of the family gathered on Saturday to shower Clara Beth! We received many wonderful gifts and had a good time. Thank you to Jimmy and Lita who went way above and beyond to make sure that everything was special. The food and desserts were delicious!

Sugar Anyone?

As I mentioned before, I failed my glucose test last week and had to go back today for the follow-up. It was three hours of misery. I started fasting last night at 8:30 and had my blood drawn this morning at 8:30 for the first time. Then I had to chug this nasty red drink that is pure sugar in five minutes! At 9:41 the lab technician took my blood again and we continued this routine two more times (although I didn't have to chug the drink again)! The sugar from the red juice sits in your stomach and makes you feel terrible. I did some walking around and was actually productive. I pre-registered with Labor & Delivery, made an appointment with a pediatrician and wrote thank you notes while I waited.

This is probably the most boring blog entry to date. Oh well. I am glad that stupid test is over. Randy met me and we had lunch! Thank goodness...I was obviously starving and Clara Beth didn't seem too happy either. I should know the results by the end of the week. Sigh...

A FAMILY AFFAIR

This is a very special gift from my mom. She had all of my grandmother Clara's hankerchiefs arranged in a shadow box! The little outfit is one that my mom wore when she was a baby and in the top right there is a photo of my granny Clara holding my mom and she is wearing the pink outfit! It is absoulely beautiful and I cannot wait to hang it in her room!

This is the delicious cake!

We had our first shower on Sunday, August 17. Our family friends, the Carrolls and the Knowles hosted a family party in our honor and it was so much fun! We got to see friends that we have not seen in a long time. We were so honored that everyone came to celebrate with us!

FAILED!!!

Last Friday I went for my glucose test. You have to drink this orange stuff that tastes like Sunkist but leaves a terrible after-taste. This photo was taken before the test results came back because I am smiling. I found out on Tuesday that I failed the test by FOUR points and I have to do another test that will take three hours and require me to fast. I know that I do not have gestational diabetes, but this is just a precaution. I have to fast Monday night beginning at 8:30pm and I will not be able to eat again until about Noon on Tuesday. The lab lady will take my blood every hour on the hour until 11:30...so four times. Clara Beth and I are not going to enjoy this one bit! I suppose I will catch up on my reading because it's going to be a long morning! GEEZ!

Huge Flower

I have several updates but I have not had a chance to upload photos! We are still moving right along and are on track for delivery at the end of October. I thought I would take a photo today because the flower on this top looks enormous over my belly and it makes me laugh. I am 29 weeks now and will be 30 weeks on Sunday. I still cannot believe that I am this far along!

Weekend Update

Nothing too exciting has happened, but here are a few updates! We got the pink chair last week and Randy got it put together quickly. It looks great in the room and we can't wait to rock Clara Beth to sleep (even though I have read you are not supposed to do that!) Also, our dresser came but there were pieces broken so we are waiting on the replacements. It's driving Randy nuts that it's not put together, but we are just going to have to wait.

In other news...BoBo got his hair CUT over the weekend. Randy took him to the groomer for the first (and last) time and he came back looking unrecognizable! I nearly burst into tears when I saw him. I know he is upset about the way he looks because he was a little mopey yesterday. We apologized profusely but it just didn't seem to take back the damage. Everyone knows how hard it is to get over a bad hair cut and this is no exception. It's going to take awhile for all of us to adjust but in the meantime we are keeping him away from the mirror.

I have had several ailments pop up in the last few days, specifically one pain in my lower back that is wreaking havoc. Hopefully it's just a strain and it will go away with a few days. We only have 10 more weeks of this and I keep telling myself I can do it!

Swollen

My mom and I went to Canton today...not a good idea! The minute I stepped out of the car my stomach tightened up and didn't relax until we left about 3 hours later! I had to sit most of the time while she shopped. It was somewhat pointless, but I did get one of those enormous lemonade drinks that are soooo delicious! My whole body felt like a swollen pig and it really wasn't even that hot. I stayed in the shade and tried to prop my feet up most of the time.

I saw this saying painted on a frame back in April and I wanted to find it again. Of course I couldn't find the exact thing I was looking for, but I did find the saying and it makes me cry every time I read it. It said:

Before you were conceived, I wanted you.
Before you were born, I loved you.
Before you were here an hour, I would give my life for you.
This is the miracle of love.

When I saw it again today I cried and cried and cried...luckily I had my sunglasses on so noone could see me boo hooing to myself. I suppose my hormones are out of control but I also think that it sums up my feelings for this baby.
